The HSS Hire stand at this week’s London Build exhibition in the UK capital’s O2 Centre welcomed special guests with a difference.

Emily Mellor (pictured), from the Aprire Bicycles professional women’s cycling team - which is sponsored by the rental company - and her colleague Lucy Harper have been on hand to put visitors to the stand through their paces in a charitable cause.

Visitors are asked to cycle a mile on a fixed bike on the stand, after which they can vote for a charity from a shortlist of 10. HSS said it will donate a total of £5000 (€7000), and as an extra incentive is giving away a bike for the fastest time recorded during the two days of the exhibition.

The seven-strong Aprire/HSS team, founded earlier this year in recognition of the growing popularity of women’s cycling, competes in elite races across the UK as well as some European events.

If you would like to try out your pedal power, or take in the London Build show in general, the event continues until 4pm UK time today.
