A protection system that could save the lifting industry time and money in costs to damaged equipment has been launched by Certex, distributor of the Bulldog range of lifting products. Load Safe, an overload protection system, has been fitted to all Bulldog chain blocks and lever hoists. Equipment such as overhead cranes, mobile cranes and offshore cranes are fitted with devices to measure the load and cut off when dangerous levels are reached. However, items such as chain slings, webbing slings and shackles do not carry safe load indicators. The system uses a clutch mechanism and eliminates the risk of equipment being excessively overloaded and su b sequently damage dIt is distributed exclusively in the UK by Certex UK.
