04 February 2014

Mississippi-based Caterpillar dealer Puckett Rents has entered an agreement with SmartEquip to join the SmartEquip Network.
The SmartEquip Network supports more than 100 OEM brands and its customers’ fleets exceed $20 billion in total value, across more than 4,000 locations, involving 40,000 users, according to SmartEquip.
Utilizing SmartEquip’s Integrated Workplace technology, Puckett will receive real-time, dynamically customized product, parts and service support for its equipment fleet, as well as procurement capabilities to automate electronic purchasing with its suppliers.
Puckett Rents is part of Caterpillar’s global network of 1,429 dealer owned rental locations that provide a broad range of construction equipment for rent that includes not only Caterpillar products, but also a wide range of allied equipment and specialized tools to meet most jobsite needs.
“Implementing SmartEquip’s Integrated Workplace will enable us to streamline our internal workflow, and will provide us significant improvements in both operational and transactional efficiencies, across the entire equipment lifecycle,” said Roger Brown, Puckett’s vice president of rental services. “Puckett will utilize SmartEquip technology both to leverage our capabilities in shop efficiency and procurement, as well as to increase the uptime and operating efficiency of our fleet. Over 90 percent of our suppliers are already participants on the Network, and we look forward to the gains we will jointly receive from conducting business through this Network.”
“We look forward to this new relationship with Puckett Rents and the Cat Rental Stores,” added John Caskey Jr., SmartEquip’s co-founder. “While Cat Rental Stores have utilized SmartEquip’s Portal technology for a number of years, Puckett will be the first to implement our Integrated Workplace application, which has traditionally been available only to the nation’s largest rental companies. We are excited about the opportunity to work with an outstanding company like Puckett to introduce this application to regional rental companies. ”
