Record Multitel production in 2008
16 February 2009
Last year Italian truck mount manufacturer, Multitel Pagliero had a record year, manufacturing and dispatching over 1000 machines. The 1000th platform was dispatched from its factory in Manta just before Christmas.
Jerry Kist, export director of Multitel, said that machine volume expectations for 2009 are slightly lower because, from the product mix already on the order book, there are a lot more big machines. In 2009 Mr Kist anticipates selling more Multitel J2 365s - the company's 65 m platform - and a lot more machines in the 35 to 60 m range.
Last year's 1000th machine, a MX 270, was destined for Edinburgh based Corstorphine Roofing and Building. It was the first access platform the company had bought and was sold through Multitel's UK dealer, Access Industries.
Darrell Hardy, a director at Corstorphine, said, "The money we were spending each month on hire was more than enough to make the finance payments on the Multitel MX 270."
The company chose the machine because, said Mr Hardy, "We had hired lots of different makes and models of platform but, when we tried the MX 270, we knew this was the platform that most closely met all our needs".
