Refurbishment fuels expansion
12 March 2008
The success of Genesis Attachments shear reconditioning and blade replacement programme, begun four years ago, has resulted in the company adding a third expansion to its Superior, Wisconsin, manufacturing facility.
More than 9,000 ft2 (840 m2) has been added to the existing plant to provide a total of 46,000 ft2 (4,300 m2). Bruce Bacon, Genesis' vice president and general manager, said “In the past, the shear refurbishing unit was forced to co-exist with general manufacturing, at times putting a strain on each. The additional space, which will not only ease that strain but also enhance and streamline the reconditioning efforts as a whole, is timely.”
He went on to say that more than 500 shears have been refurbished, and that as some of Genesis' shears reach their 10 years in service mark, these should be added to the refurbishment mix.
The company's parts department will use some of the additional space that has been added.
