Erith Contractors is using a Bobcat Remote Control compact loader on a top-down demolition project in the north of London, United Kingdom.

Supplied by equipment rental company BooBoo Plant Hire, Erith’s S450 skid-steer loader is fitted with Bobcat’s Remote Control System kit and is being used at Whittington Hospital to help take down a former wing.

Harry Allen, owner of BooBoo Plant Hire, commented: “With the number of injuries on sites increasing again, maintaining maximum safety is paramount.”

Bobcat said its Remote Control System kit was designed so that it can be mounted and dismounted on a variety of machines quickly. Much in the same way as the manufacturer’s plug and play system.

According to the manufacturer, the kit allows direct line of sight of the work being carried and ensures operators are distanced from other loading machinery, falling objects and debris and hazardous materials.

Harry added: “As well as increased safety, the remote control saves costs by removing the need for a banksman as a lookout for the machine, a prerequsite now on many sites.”
