Samoter rental debate

23 April 2008

The recent rental seminar during the Samoter show generated an interesting debate between those who felt that dealer/manufacturer-led rental operations (which are common in Italy) should be encouraged and those who favoured the development of an independent rental sector. Cramo’s chief financial officer, Martti Ala Harkonen, one of the panellists, was among those who argued strongly for independence.

The event attracted over 100 delegates, leaving standing room only, and speakers included Bernard Pointet (representing Loxam and the European Rental Association), the American Rental Association’s Ken Hughes, Vincenzo Andreazza (Alimak Hek), Paolo Romanin (Noloitalia), Mendes Migotto (Venpa) and Mr Ala Harkonen.
