Belgium's Sarens Group used its 600 tonne capacity Terex CC 2800-1 lattice boom crawler crane to set a steel footbridge on its foundations in the city of Metz, France

The job involved lifting the 102 tonne footbridge from a lowbed trailer and turning the 60 m long steel structure by 90 degrees, before placing it on its foundations. The CC 2800-1 was set up with SSL configuration, a main boom length of 66 m, and 180 tonnes of counterweight and 60 tonnes of central ballast.

The bridge was lifted to a height of 9.25 m and rotated into position while working at a radius of 51.6 m.

Sarens brought in the crawler crane from Flamanville, 800 km from Metz. The crane was disassembled on the Monday and then transported to Metz, where three mechanics and one crane operator reassembled it so that it was ready for operation within two days.

The new footbridge connects the city areas east of the river Seille to the city centre, enabling both pedestrians and cyclists to conveniently access the city's train station, Amphitheatre and parks.
