Scafom-rux implements Sycor rental software

Netherlands-based Scafom-rux - which rents, sells and manufacturers scaffolding, shoring and propping products worldwide - has gone live with its new ERP and rental software system from Germany's Sycor.Rental.
Scafom-rux's businesses in France, Belgium and the Netherlands are live with the system and it is planning to install the system soon at its businesses in Spain, Canada and Chile. The company is using the Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system implemented by Sycor as well as Sycor's own rental system for the rental business.
Stephan Winterhoff, head of Scafom-rux's Germany business area and international project manager, said; "Our customers praise our now even more transparent billing system for rental services and, thus, improved traceability. The integrated mapping of the entire rental process chain within a single system means increased traceability for us as well and facilitates our work. In addition, there is a reduced tendency for errors".
The new system, which ultimately will be used company-wide, is helping Scafom-rux operate as a single business. Scafom-rux has been built up through 25 acquisitions, which meant that it was operating a wide number of different IT systems.
"Given its scope, Sycor.Rental is optimal for us", said Mr Winterhoff, "And Microsoft Dynamics AX delivers precisely the internationality we've been looking for. The adaptability and scalability of both solutions provide us with the perspective needed for future customisations. We are well placed for the long term."
Rental accounts for around 50% of Scafom's revenues.
As well as rolling out the system for the company's other rental businesses, it is also looking at using the system for its entire operation, explains Mr Winterhoff; "We have identified the solution's full potential for us. Instead of implementing it only for the rental business, we now have initial plans to include the areas of sales and production as well. But this is still very much in the future."
Scafom-rux has opted for a ‘cloud' solution, with Sycor running the Microsoft Dynamics AX and Sycor.Rental system at its own data centre.
"Outsourcing is an ideal fit for the philosophy of data centralisation", said Mr Winterhoff, "We also ensure the high availability of our ERP solution in this way, which is managed reliably by experts. From a cost perspective, too, it was the right step to take".
