Scanclimber hoists in Australia
By Maria Hadlow26 June 2008
Scaninter, the Finnish mast climber and hoist manufacturer, saw the first Australian installation of its SC2032 hoist in December 2007.
The hoist was erected at the Melbourne Docklands Waterfront Development project by one of Scaninter's Australian distributors, Scan-Rent Australia Pty Ltd, and local rigging company Rigtech Australia Pty Ltd. The SC2032 is being used to transport personnel and materials up a seven story car park complex. It can carry up to 2000 kg or 24 persons at a speed of up to 36 m/min.
The Melbourne Docklands development covers 200 hectares of land and water located along the Victoria Harbour and 3 km of Yarra River frontage. Hansen Yunken the major contractor on this job site chose the partnership of Scan-Rent and Rigtech because, between them, the companies are able to offer a package of personnel and material hoists, with 24 hour back up and an experienced rigging team.
Janne Haapalainen of Scan-Rent Australia said that local contractors liked to see more options available in the Australian hoist rental market. The Scanclimber hoists available in Australia have been designed to meet local Occupational Health and Safety regulations and safety standards.
Several Scanclimber SC1432 passenger hoists have recently been delivered to Australia to support a rapidly growing construction market and Scanclimber is able to offer specialised solutions such as the SC1837 hoist, with its 1.5 m by 3.7 m by 2.1 m cage, designed for those needing to transport plaster sheets.
Scanclimber hoists and mast climbing work platforms are also available in Australia from HiReach Rentals Australia Pty Ltd in Queensland and Machforce Pty Ltd in Western Australia and Northern Territories.
