UK rental firm Select Plant Hire has added two more Liebherr telescopic boom crawler cranes to its fleet. They are a 60 tonne capacity LTR 1060 and a 100 tonne LTR 1100.

Select already operates a large fleet of Liebherrs; ten LR type crawler lift cranes and two HS duty cycle crawler cranes, in capacities from 65 to 160 tonnes. The latest additions went to work on Edinburgh's tram project and London's Gateway Port project.

Telescopic crawler cranes were chosen because they combine the advantages of a telescopic wheeled crane with those of a lattice boom crawler crane. Both units benefit from short set-up times, easy transport and a variable jib system, Liebherr said.

The 60 tonner has a 40 metre telescopic main boom, 2.5 m assembly jib and a double swing-away fly jib from 9.5 to 16 m long, achieving a maximum height-under-hook of 54.5 m. The 100 tonner has a 52 m telescopic main boom, a 2.9 m assembly jib and a double swing away fly jib from 10.8 to 19 m.
