Smart Platform Rental has added the Multitel MJ 201 truck mounted platform to its fleet. The new machine was added on the same day the UK-based company opened its new Bristol depot.

Over the next couple of months these machines will become available throughout the whole of Smart’s depot network.

Multitel MJ 201 platforms are mounted on the Nissan Cabstar Euro 6 chassis and offer more than 12m outreach and 20m working height. They also have a below ground, negative envelope which makes them suitable for certain types of bridge work and highway barrier inspection.

“The geometry of the MJ 201 is unique for a platform mounted on a small 3.5 tonne chassis I that the telescopic fly jib means it offers not only all the advantages of a straight telescopic boom platform but also offers all the advantages associated with an articulated platform, namely a good up and over outreach,” said a Smart Platform Rental spokesman.

The platform supplied to Smart includes a number of optional extras, such as an operator anti-entrapment system in the cage and ground controls on an umbilical cable. The cage on the Multitel MJ 201 has 90 dgree each way cage rotation with a payload of 250kg.

Andy Burt, managing director of Smart, said, “We have looked at different Multitel products in the past over many years but until we more recently looked closely at the MJ 201 we had never seen the way they could add significantly to what we were already offering.
