David Smith has been named president for Snorkel North America. Smith previously held the position of vice-president, operations, for the company. He has been with Snorkel since 2004 and has held a variety of management positions within the company.

"We have needed a strong leader to head up the US operation for some time and David has proved over the past six years that he really understands and believes in Snorkel's core values," said Brendan Campbell, chief operating office of Tanfield Powered Access, Snorkel's parent company. Campbell has headed the US Snorkel operation on an interim basis. "As President of our North American operations, David's experience and leadership will be invaluable, as we continue to strengthen our business and prepare Snorkel for the economy's rebound."

"I am proud to be leading Snorkel North America at such an exciting time for this company," Smith said. "We are executing a strategy to strengthen and enhance our customer offering. We are investing through the tough times so that we are ready to meet our customers' needs when the good times return."

Smith's appointment follows the recent addition of three senior Snorkel personnel in product support, finance and supply chain.
