Soilmec shows advanced foundation equipment in Las Vegas

Soilmec’s latest SR-95 piling rig – on show this week at ConExpo – has been upgraded to the Blue Tech version, with a newly-designed cab, new hydraulics, enhanced efficiency and reduced fuel consumption.

Soilmec says the new rig, which features a Stage V diesel engine, is able to dig deeper and larger piles, due to an increase in its torque and a new variable drilling axis feature.

Piles of diameters up to 2700mm are achievable, drilled to a maximum depth of 102m.

The main winch is designed for easier handling to the Kelly bars and Soilmec says the rig is capable of “very high extraction force”.

Inside the cab, the rig is designed with a plug & play approach, making it easier and quicker to convert to different on-board technologies.

The SR-95 Blue Tech also features the Drilling Mate System (DMS), an interactive tool, designed to allow operators and jobsite workers to monitor and control the rig in real time.

The DMS records machine production parameters and drilling data, including depth inclination and rotary speeds, and can also detect errors, reporting them to the operator and sending them to a DMS control centre for expert analysis.

Range of equipment on display

Other Soilmec machines on display at the Las Vegas trade show include the

SR-45 hydraulic drilling rig, which has been upgraded to the HD version and includes segmental mast boosting, allowing for low headroom operation and a monolithic HD mast with improved capacity.

For operators, the rig has an enlarged roof and front glass, giving improved visibility. LED lights with anti-glare technology are also standard, as well as a CCTV camera system with a dedicated 178mm display.

The SM-11 medium-sized drilling rig will also feature at the show. This medium-sized machine boasts a compact design, making it suitable for urban construction and limited access jobsites. A modular mast also allows for work on sites with low headroom.

Soilmec says the rig’s smooth operation are attributable to its proportional hydraulic servo-assisted controls.
