Demolition & Recycling International (D&Ri) is delighted to announce the latest addition to the conference programme of this year’s World Demolition Summit (WDS).

It is Maximiliano Maurino, chief operating officer of Argentina-based demolition contractor Grupo Mitre.

He will be making the long journey to Europe (Vienna, Austria, 16 and 17 November), to speak about the Barrio 31 project in his country’s capital city, Buenos Aires.

The project is notable because it involved the demolition of more than 1,300 houses “precariously” situated under one of the city’s main access roads, which resulted in the highest population density in the local province.

It also provided an additional challenge in that the neighbourhood was a high crime area and the security of staff working on the project required special attention.

This is the first time the company has presented at the WDS, which as well as the conference programme includes a networking drinks reception and the World Demolition Awards ceremony and dinner.

Grupo Mitre was the winner of the awards’ Recycling and Environmental category in 2020 and was shortlisted for two categories a year ago.

The World Demolition Summit is organised by D&Ri alongside the European Demolition Association and the National Demolition Association of the USA. The headline sponsor is Volvo Construction Equipment.
