Southern Cranes and Access new LTM1130

UK-based crane rental company Southern Cranes and Access Hire of West Sussex has added a Liebherr LTM 1130-5.1 all terrain to its fleet.

The LTM 1130-5.1 has a 60 metre working radius and a capacity of 130 tonnes. It is also fitted with the new Liebherr Variable Supporting Base technology, which measures the position and the support forces on individual outriggers. Data is then logged by the on-board LICCON system to work out the working duties of the crane based on position, ballast and ground force of that crane, the manufacturer said. Southern Cranes LTM 11305.1 is the first to enter the UK with this feature.

Clive Sadler, managing director of Southern Cranes and Access said, “The Variable Supporting Base makes the LTM 1130 significantly more versatile; it increases the working radius of the crane in restrictive environments where out-riggers cannot be fully extended.

“The use of the Variable Supporting Base leads to improved levels of safety during lifting operations; the crane operator will know exactly how much weight can be lifted in any given circumstance and offers us a greater flexibility to offer our customers the ability to plan lifts in previously difficult or dangerous environments.”
