September 2018: Sarens was roped in by Tagi Logistics to perform the project for Electricity of Vietnam (EVN). In the past, Sarens has successfully installed generator stator units at the Vinh Tan Power Plant and has always been a preferred partner.

The Sarens crew of eight, was required to lift and install a 350T generator stator Since the operation area had limited space, the team decided to deploy:

  • one set of gantry system
  • four unit of 185T strand jack

The equipment was transported from Malaysia to Vietnam via sea freight in seven days. A total of 15 containers were used for transportation. As there was limited space available on site all containers had to be delivered to Ho Chi Minh city for equipment off-loading and from there the equipment was transported to site via conventional road transport. It took one day for the trucks to reach the site from Ho Chi Minh.

The team lifted the stator unit to a height of 16.6m skidded it by 30m and finally installed it on its foundation. The team planned to complete the assembly and installation within 14 working days but they went an extra mile to complete the operation within 12 working days.

Our Project Engineer, Lim Cheng Kiat says, “With full support from the client, the project was executed extremely fast and beyond client’s expectation yet safety was never compromised. Client is very satisfied with our work and efforts.”
