Star Platforms has expanded its equipment delivery fleet by investing in a new articulated truck.

The access rental company’s new 44 tonne DAF XF530 incorporates a Euro 6 engine and provides up to 7% increased efficiency.

Star Platforms said that, in addition to safety, it has a continuing focus on environmental impact.

The vehicle features satellite navigation and a telematics system to help optimise fuel consumption and route efficiency. In addition, it also incorporates a four-way safety camera system.

Designed specifically for the transport of access platforms, the machine also includes a Sterling ST440 heavy duty tri-axle step frame trailer, fitted with recessed lashing rings to ensure safer and quicker securing of loads.

Ian Mitchell, Star Platforms Operations Director, said, “This new truck increases our capacity to serve our growing customer base across London and the South East.

“With our powered access rental fleet now at over 1,850 platforms, we are always looking at ways to maintain on-time deliveries for customers and stay committed to our next day guarantee policy.”

The new truck, which is also FORS Silver compliant and meets the CLOCS, Crossrail, SafeHire and CHAS standards, brings Star Platform’s delivery fleet to a total of 17 trucks.
