A Liebherr 1000 EC-B 125 Litronic tower crane has been used to lift a pre-assembled rotor, with a diameter of 113 metres, for a new wind turbine in Deining, Germany.

The flat top tower crane was configured with a hook height of 155.5 m and was integrated in the foundation of the wind turbine to minimise the required crane surface at the construction site, a spokesperson said. To carry out the lift, the crane was braced to the tower of the wind turbine. The EC-B 125 lifted the rotor assembly weighing almost 70 tonnes to a height of 142.5 m.

Thorsten Hesselbein, Liebherr-Werk Biberach tower crane solutions manager, said, “The wind energy experts at Max Bögl Wind AG worked closely with our expert 'Tower Crane Solutions' team on this project. It is particularly important for new challenges like this unique installation job that customers can rely on the wide-ranging expertise at Liebherr.”
