By Steve Ducker23 June 2016

More than 150 contractors, manufacturers and associations from Europe’s demolition industry in Europe gathered for the European Demolition Association (EDA) Convention in Glasgow, which took place from June 9 to 11.

The 2016 annual convention included conferences, presentations about new developments, case stories and round table discussion.

A high quality programme of speakers, an active and friendly exhibitors’area, an emotional gala dinner and an enjoyable leisure programme combined to produce a successful event.

Speakers included Kenny Crookston of the Wheatley Group, Dave Rowe and Jim O’Sullivan from Keltbray, Carsten Tromp (Jansen Recycling) and Andreas Pocha (German Demolition Association). Among the papers presented were projects detailing the demolition of the Earl’s Court Exhibition Centres in London and the wreck of the Concordia cruise ship in the port of Genoa, Italy.

Moderator for the conference was Howard Button, chief executive officer of the United Kingdom’s National Federation of Demolition Contractors.

The next EDA Convention will take place in Brussels, Belgium, in June 2017.
