Liebherr's T 282 B is an upgraded version of its T 282, and has a maximum capacity of 400 tons (364 tonnes). Powered by a 20 cylinder, 3650 hp (2723 kW) DDC/MTU diesel engine, which provides +35% more output than the T 282, the top speed remains 40 mph (64 km/hour).

Besides upgrading the engine the new model includes over 200 “product improvements” all designed to reduce tyre wear and fuel costs and prolong maintenance intervals. These include strengthening some of the basic elements in the mainframe and inclusion of the company's Load Management System, which passes the weight of the payload directly to the wheels cutting potential metal fatigue on all load-bearing components to a minimum, according to Liebherr. The new, +10% larger cab includes an integrated ROPS as part of the cab frame, which, besides increasing operator safety, also improves the field of view.
