Takenaka chooses Linden Comansa cranes for Singapore Art Gallery

Takenaka - Singapore Piling Joint Venture has rented three Linden Comansa luffing jib cranes from Access Systems Technology to carry out works on the construction of the new National Art Gallery, Singapore, and conservation and adaptive use work on the adjacent City Hall and the former Supreme Court.

Takenaka - Singapore Piling Joint Venture is the main contractor for the construction works of the S$ 530 million (US$ 420 million) cultural development.

The three luffers are being used on the restoration of the City Hall, loading and unloading materials, concrete casting and shifting of heavy materials and equipment. Two of the cranes have been erected with 55 metre jibs, which allows them to load up to 7.9 tonnes. The third luffer has a jib length of 65 m, the maximum of this model, and can load up to 4.7 tonnes at the jib end.

The National Art Gallery in Singapore opens in 2015. At 60,000 square metres it will be the region’s largest museum. The City Hall and the former Supreme Court are also being transformed to host a large collection of Southeast Asian art.
