Terex AWP has introduced electric versions of the Genie rough terrain '69 series' of scissors launched earlier this year. The three electric lifts are the GS-2669 DC, GS-3369 DC and GS-4069 DC, and will offer similar capacities and jobsite performance to the diesel powered versions, the company said.
Terex says the GS-4069 DC scissor is the world's first 40-foot (12m) full drive-height electric scissor lift in its class designed to offer increased operator productivity and increased uptime while on the jobsite. The GS-2669 DC and the GS-3369 DC also drive at full height.
"Genie was the first to offer AC electric drive technology on our groundbreaking Z40/23N articulating boom," said Jeff Weido, Terex AWP senior product manager. "Now, we have brought this innovation to our exceptional line of electric rough terrain scissor lifts. These models offer increased energy efficiency, productivity, reliability, and durability because the AC drive motors are now sealed, all of which are aimed to reduce maintenance and service costs."
The electric drive motors produce no emissions in enclosed spaces and can be charged overnight.
"Diesel deliveries on jobsites can cost upwards of $5 per gallon," said Weido. "Using electric scissor lifts provide a huge savings; especially those that stay on the jobsite from start to finish. This can be significant for jobs that last up to a year."
All three scissor lifts are capable of driving through dirt, sand and mud. Non-marking rough terrain tires are standard with turf tires as optional. A standard front active oscillating axle helps keep all four wheels on the ground during operation, providing increased machine control and traction when going over hills and obstacles. The patented full-time oscillating axle automatically senses the terrain and adjusts the axle position based on ground conditions, regardless of the scissor's position.
Stowed drive speed is 4.5 mph. "This is a 50 percent increase over our previous DC models and 30 percent over our IC rough terrain models," said Weido. Active speed control provides the driver with excellent control of the machine when maneuvering on a jobsite.
On ANSI models, the new scissor lifts provide an increased platform work space of 13 percent. Lifting capacity remains at 1,500 pounds (680kg) on the GS-2669 DC, 1,000 pounds (450kg) on the GS-3369 DC and 800 pounds (360kg) on the GS-4069 DC. A 5-foot (1.5m) extension deck provides operators with increased work platform space.
Global production for the new DC scissor lifts is planned for the first quarter of 2012. The GS-4069 DC scissor will be seen and demonstrated for the first time at the Lift and Access Showcase & Symposium, being held on Nov. 7-9 in Scottsdale, AZ.
