Outreach has investment £1.25 million (US$2.0 million) in its access division to create what the company describes as Scotland’s largest independent hirer of truck mounted access equipment.

Outreach Access purchased three Wumag Palfinger truck mounted platforms through distributor Skyking in Leicestershire, UK. They are capable of working heights up to 45 m, 53 m and 70 m, respectively. The latter is the largest truck mounted access platform in Scotland, said Outreach.

They join Outreach Access’ existing fleet of truck, van and trailer mounted platforms, scissors and self propelled booms with a working height now up to 70 m and self drive units up to 22 m.

They work in applications including property maintenance and repairs, television and film production, major outdoor events and, increasingly, the service and maintenance of onshore wind farms.

“This latest substantial investment by Outreach underlines our serious intent to grow our Access division,” said Gary Potts, managing director, sales and marketing. “Our experience over the past few years in this sector indicates there is real customer demand to hire specialist machines based in Scotland rather than incur the extra costs and time to bring them up from down south.

"With this investment, we are confident that we can satisfy the widest demands from our base in central Scotland,” Mr Potts added.
