Pump manufacturer Tsurumi has acquired an 80% stake in its Belgian dealer and rental company Marine Motors & Pumps (MM Pumps).

In a stock exchange announcement, Tsurumi’s Japanese parent company Seika Corp said the reason for the acquisition was to start up a rental operation for submersible pumps.

Founded in 1935, MM Pumps is located in Ranst, Antwerp, with a branch office in Wavre. The company currently offers a range of pumps for sale and rental, including submersible and dry installation models, diesel and petrol-driven models, and accessories.

The deal was effective on 1 January this year, according to Reuters.

Tsurumi was not available for comment at the time of writing, but an update on this story is expected.
