Two turbine contracts for A2Sea

15 April 2008

Offshore wind turbine installation specialist A2Sea has added two major contracts to its order book.

One of the contracts is for the Denmark-based company to supply its Sea Energy vessel to erect 60 turbines for Vestas Offshore Applications on the Q7 offshore wind farm off the Dutch coast. It is the second major wind farm to be built off the Dutch coast in the last two years. The 60 Vestas V80 turbines are to be installed in one season and work is due to start in the second quarter of this year.

The other contract, for Siemens Wind Power, is for sea transport and the installation of 48 turbines on the Lillgrund wind farm off the Swedish coast at Malmø in the Baltic. The 48 Siemens SWT-2.3-93 turbines will total 110.4 MW, making it the largest offshore wind farm in Swedish waters. Work is due to start in the second half of 2007.
