Unic takes the plunge in stolen car rescue

10 May 2010

A Unic URW-706 mini crawler crane was tasked with lifting a car from a UK canal last week after it had been pushed in by thieves.

The stolen Ford Fiesta was abandoned in a lock in Chadderton, Oldham while it was full of water. The lock was drained before a sling was fitted around the rear axle of the car and it was lifted onto the dockside.

The URW-706 has a 6 tonne lifting capacity at 3 m and a hook height of 19.5m. It is the highest capacity crane in the Unic range.
