US debut for Husqvarna DXR 310 robot

One of the first 1.9 tonne Husqvarna DXR 310 demolition robots in the USA was used by concrete removal specialist Bluegrass to remove two industrial kilns at a papermaking plant in Georgia.

The machine was lifted by crane to to the third floor of the building where the kilns were located and set about their demolition. Working in an initial temperature of 45°C, the DXR 310 first removed lime build-up on the kilns, and then removed 7.6 m (25 ft) of castable from each plus a three layer brick dam at the entrance.

The machine worked 24 hours a day for three days to carry out the demolition. According to Bluegrass service manager Curt Ryals: "The DXR ran great, we had zero downtime. Every function operated like you thought it would. The only issue we had in six work shifts is that lime dust would accumulate where the extend-a-boom had grease on it and would give a little trouble boooming back in. Other than that it was phenomenal."
