Intermat was the venue for the launch of Hitachi's latest generation high reach demolition excavators.

Four new models have joined the company's line-up - ZX250LCH-3, ZX350LCH-3, ZX470LCH-3 and ZX870LCH-3 - with the ZX470LCH-3 taking pride of place on the stand in Paris.

Designed with a focus on safety and performance, the base machines are build in Japan and then shipped to Hitachi's facility in Oosterhout, the Netherlands, where the necessary modifications are then carried out.

Each is available with three boom options - high reach, standard dig and a two piece intermediate reach that can carry heavier demolition tools than the 3.5 tonnes of the high reach.

Hitachi's Mark Burghoorn, responsible for the international sales of Hitachi's specialist equipment, talked with D&Ri editor Lindsay Gale about the new machine.
