Wacker Neuson opens Chinese plant
13 December 2018
The official opening ceremony for the new Wacker Neuson production plant and research and development centre in Pinghu, near Shanghai, has taken place two years after the initial groundbreaking ceremony.
More than 500 guests including government representatives, suppliers, dealers and their customers from around the world attended the ceremony.
China is a key market for the Wacker Neuson Group as it offers future growth potential especially for mini excavators and construction equipment. Reflecting this importance, the group has opened a new production site along with a local research and design center in Pinghu. The company has been distributing construction equipment in China for over 20 years.
“We have identified strong growth potential in China,” said CEO Martin Lehner.
“Rising demand for improved infrastructure, the expansion and modernisation of the country’s road and rail network, plus increased focus on more efficient, environmentally sound compact equipment in this country are further proof that we have made the right decision.
“The opening of our factory in Pinghu is an important step and a well-timed move for Wacker Neuson”.
Production is already underway of 1.7 t excavators and larger models, while the group has also entered into a partnership with John Deere and is manufacturing mini and compact excavators in the up to 7.5 t class at the factory.
The plant covers an area of around 135,000 sq m (1.4 million sq ft).
