Nigeria-based specialized transport company Wellmann recently moved an oil platform topside of 50 x 60 metres, with a total weight of 3,340 tonnes, to the Nigerdock production yard Snake Island Integrated Free Zone in Lagos, Nigeria.

The company used 128 axle lines of Nicolas MHD G2 modules for the transport. Pierre Berret, North and West African area manager of sales at TII Group - parent company of Nicolas - said, “The Nicolas MHD range is sturdy, can be steered precisely and handles difficult conditions such as salty air or poor ground surfaces without problems. The topside transported in this case has an extremely asymmetric centre of gravity - no problem for the hydraulic suspension of the MHD.”

The Nicolas self propelled MHD module trailers are availablein 3 to 8 axle line modules and can be powered by either 215 or 410 horsepower (HP) Tier IV final PowerPack. Coupling sets make the combination between different vehicle generations easy, the company said. Mechanically and electronically steered vehicles can be coupled with special adapters.
