Conquest Offshore is presenting the Conquest MB1 vessel as a 'game changer' for offshore wind turbine installation.

Conquest MB1 was designed with the engineering of Temporary Works Design and Barge Master. The installation system is suitable for installing monopiles, transition pieces and pre-piling of jackets, a spokesperson from Conquest Offshore said.

The barge is 136 by 36 metres and it can store three monopiles, or up to 16 transition pieces, on deck using a skidding system. In addition, upending can be done on deck or floating, a spokesperson added.

For installing monopiles, the barge has a specially designed motion compensated pile gripper. “While hammering the pile, hydraulic cylinders actively compensate the surge, sway and heave motions of the barge to ensure the verticality within limits,” a spokesperson from Conquest Offshore explained.
