One of Europe's leading wind farm erection companies, Windhoist/McNally Crane Hire, in Ireland, will take delivery of the world's largest telescopic mobile crane - the Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1.

The main telescopic boom of the 1,200 tonne capacity LTM 11200-9.1 extends to 100 m and can be fitted with a luffing jib up to 126 m in length. The nine-axle carrier is designed to ensure smooth road travel and can move on site with boom, jibs and counterweight up to a maximum travel weight of 280 tonnes, said the manufacturer.

"The Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1 is in a class of its own, with superb duties, ideally suited to wind farm work. We confidently expect this crane to increase our productivity and enable us to work with the turbine manufacturers to erect larger, more efficient wind turbines," said Cathal McNally of Windhoist/McNally.

Delivery is due from the Liebherr factory in Ehingen, Germany at the end of November 2008.

French rental house Mediaco will take delivery of one early next year and Netherlands-based international heavy lift and transport specialist Mammoet already has one.
