Wirtgen and Hamm in German PPP motorway project

Wirtgen and Hamm machines are working on Germany's first public private partnership (PPP) motorway construction project.

Led by a German/Dutch/French consortium, the work is being carried out on a 37 km-long stretch of the A8 motorway between Augsburg and Munich. It involves a 53 km six-lane motorway expansion - the first 37 km of which must be ready for traffic by the end of 2010.

Wirtgen's new WR 2000 soil stabiliser and recycler, with a milling width of 2 m, a milling depth of up to 500 mm and a maximum advance speed of 20 m per minute is working on the project.

Also in use is a 3412 Hamm single drum compactor, equipped with the Hammtronic microprocessor control system that monitors all relevant functions and adjusts the vibration system and travel speed.
