World of Concrete opens

22 January 2019

Kicking off show season is the annual Vegas masonry show World of Concrete, Jan. 22-25 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Show producers expect this year’s event to be bigger than last year’s with more than 1,600 companies exhibiting across 745,000 net square feet. Organizers are expecting more than 60,000 people to attend.

The event also features 150 educational sessions, interactive workshops, demonstrations and hands-on training.

New for 2019 is the Concrete Start-Up Zone, which features emerging technologies and innovations.

Participants will present technologies, equipment and materials that have yet to be commercially introduced. The Concrete Start-Up Zone will be located in the North Hall (N153.)

Here’s what else visitors can see, explore and learn about material handling, hoists, scaffolding and telehandlers while attending World of Concrete.

On display at Caterpillar’s booth will be the Cat TH3510D telehandler, with a rated load capacity of 7,716 pounds and maximum lift height of 32 feet. The telehandler features a compact design for jobsite maneuverability and a three-section hydraulic boom with a low pivot pin mounting for maximum all-around visibility. The new model combines field-proven Cat drive line components with a simple, highly efficient gear-pump hydraulic system to deliver long term durability and reliable performance at low operating costs.

The TH3510D uses a fuel-efficient Cat C3.4B diesel engine rated at 100 hp which meets U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final/EU Stage IV emission standards. A Cat C4.4 ACERT engine that meets Tier 3/Stage IIIA equivalent emission standards is available for lesser or non-regulated countries.

A Cat four-speed power-shift transmission drives both of the TH3510D axles for permanent four-wheel drive, providing excellent traction in all conditions. A limited-slip differential in the front axle further aids traction in wet conditions. Oil-immersed dual axle disc brakes are used, and a parking brake works in conjunction with the front brakes. The braking system is designed to provide trouble-free performance in the harshest operating conditions.

For added versatility, the TH3510D is fitted with a standard Cat Integrated Tool carrier (IT) quick coupler that is compatible with the entire Cat telehandler range.

“The Pettibone Traverse remains the only new telehandler on the market with an extendable, traversing boom that moves loads by traveling horizontally,” the company said. “Up to 70 inches of horizontal boom transfer allows contractors to land loads very near the specified lift height, and without having to coordinate multiple boom functions.”

The company will also show its T994X. The telehandler features an extendable, traversing boom that moves loads by traveling horizontally. Up to 70 inches of horizontal boom transfer allows users to place loads at full lift height through tight openings without having to coordinate multiple boom functions, the company said.

The traversing boom allows for maximum forward reach of 35 feet, 10 inches and has a maximum lift capacity of 9,000 pounds. The T944X features several new design enhancements.

The telehandler is powered by a 74 hp Cummins QSF 3.8 Tier 4 Final diesel engine that features a DOC muffler and requires no diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). The side pod engine offers easy service access while allowing curbside visibility and ground clearance of 18 inches. A 117 hp option is also available.

The T944X features formed boom plates and less welding, allowing the structure greater strength while reducing weight. The design also minimizes boom deflection for better control and accuracy when placing loads, Pettibone said.
