XCMG has introduced a telescopic boom to compete with JLG’s 1850SJ and Genie’s SX-180.

The 56.6m platform height boom GTBZ58S uses some of the technology from the Chinese manufacturer’s long experience with producing truck mounted platforms. The model has a 450kg restricted basket capacity, and 250kg unrestricted. Maximum outreach is 25.1m, while the weight of the machine is 27,200kg.

The company said it was likely to find customers for the new machine in the Middle East. But it said the boom would be certified for all global markets.

XCMG is already claiming substantial success in the access industry since it started its access segment a couple of years ago, with sales of 8,000 scissor lifts and 1,000 booms up to the end of this year. A vast majority of the scissors have been sold in China, but 20% of its extensive boom range has gone to export markets, including the UAE, Kuwait, Turkey and India, the company said.
