US-based Mustang has added a new zero tail swing excavator to its ten-strong compact excavator range and, according to the company, the machine's diminutive size does not impact on its performance. The company claims that the new 3803ZT has a performance equal to its conventional tail swing models, while providing increased manoeuvrability and improved visibility.

The 7826 lb (3.5 tonne) machine is fitted on a longer undercarriage to provide stability. The machine is also fitted with a side mounted 21 kW Yanmar diesel engine and rear mounted fuel and hydraulic tanks, which give easy access for maintenance and has allowed Mustang to fit a large operator's cab.

Mustang believes that with a maximum drawbar pull of 6614 lbf (7.8 kN), the new machine offers the highest tractive force in its weight class.

The 3803ZT is also fitted with a load sensing system automatically shifts operation mode to lower cycle times and improve fuel efficiency.
