Consortium lands €489m container terminal construction at Port of Valencia

A consortium of contractors led by Spanish firm Acciona and including Jan de Nul and Grupo Bertolín has landed a deal to build a new container terminal at the Port of Valencia, Spain.

The €489 million (US$524.1 million) contract involves a primary dock, auxiliary dock, and 126 hectares of new paved terminal areas, to be built with materials from the dredging of the ports of Valencia and Sagunto.

The new terminal has been designed to accommodate the largest, next-generation vessels.

Acciona claims to have designed and built more than 50 ports around the world and uses the Kugira floating caisson dock, which is one of the largest in the world.
