The Crossrail metro project in London, UK, continues apace with the awarding of a £110 million (€127 million) contract to construct the main works for Bond Street Station.

The contract was awarded to a joint venture between contractors Costain and Skanska, and is worth £55 million (€64 million) to Skanska.

The project will involve the main construction, platform fit-out and mechanical and electrical services for the station’s Western Ticket Hall in Davies Street and the Eastern Ticket Hall in Hanover Square.

It follows on from the advanced works contract for the structural shell of Bond Street station awarded to the joint venture in 2011.

Work on the latest phase of construction is scheduled to start this month and be completed by February 2016. The entire Crossrail project is scheduled to open in 2018.
