Skanska to upgrade railway in Czech Republic

Skanska has signed a contract with The Railway Administration of the Czech Republic for the modernisation of Chrastava and Hrádek nad Nisou railway stations in northern Bohemia, Czech Republic.

The contract is worth CZK 1.2 billion (€47 million), which will be included in the order bookings for Europe for the third quarter of 2024.

Skanska says that the project includes the modernisation of two railway stations, with a total of 4 kilometres of new tracks, the installation of 14 new switches, and new station security systems.

Skanska will also build four barrier-free platforms, several new bridges and crossroads, and new station buildings including a small bus terminal in Hrádek. 

Construction will start in September 2024, with expected completion in December 2025.
