Sweden's Skanska Maskin is to significantly increase its depot network in the coming two years to increase the level of support it provides to Skanska, its parent company and main customer.

Skanska Maskin's managing director, Peter Camnert, told IRN that the aim was to increase the company's rental network from 16 to 25 locations over the next 24 months.

"We have to provide other services to Skanska, not just rental machines, and we want to be located in the areas where Skanska is operating today", said Mr Camnert.

"We are targeting external customers as well, but in the first place we want to provide all Skanska projects with that kind of service. We want to do more for them", he said.

Skanska Maskin is strong in areas such as Stockholm, Malmo and Gothenburg, but will extend its network in other regions of Sweden.

In addition to expanding its network, Skanska Maskin wants to increase the proportion of business it undertakes with external customers. Currently around 80% of its approximate €50 million turnover is with Skanska, but Mr Camnert said he would like external business to be closer to 30 to 40% of total revenues.
