CM Labs’s new wheeled loader simulator

Canada-based CM Labs has launched its Wheeled Loader Simulator Training Pack.
The company, which builds simulation-based solutions to help clients design advanced equipment, created the training tool to allow trainee operators to learn safe and efficient techniques in a digital environment.
CM Labs said that the training pack “introduces guided learning in the form of real-time feedback during exercises on crucial metrics such as distance from objects, traction, and terrain height”.
It also comprises ‘multiple possible solutions’ that let learners exercise skills, creativity and good judgment.
Installed with a soil simulation that allows earthmoving techniques to be practiced, the pack uses exercises that teach trainee operators how to use the loader’s quick coupler and allows them to practice changing the machine’s tools without accidental releases during tasks.
It also simulates wheeled loader instability caused by high loads or hard braking and recreates the consequences of rough operations on the equipment’s behaviour.
According to the company, the Wheeled Loader Simulator Training Pack provides clients with a customisable scoring system to assess trainee operators.
By monitoring machine performance metrics, including collisions, shock loads, fuel consumption, cycle time, idle time and bucket material loads and totals, the technology provides trainees with a real time score of their performance.
A Grade Quality Sensor that gives real-time visual feedback to trainee operators when digging or levelling is also included in the pack.
