Diversified Products, a US manufacturer of utility, products has introduced the Auxiliary Arm for cranes, truck mounted platforms and digger derricks. The Auxiliary Arm is designed to support one or three conductors while line crews replace insulators, cross-arms, poles or hardware. It can also be used for creating additional workspace clearance.

Diversified's Auxiliary Arm uses simple hardware for attaching to attach it to the boom. The unit has a 1.5m (5ft) mast, which consists of 1.2m (4ft) clear span fiberglass, and a 3.6m (12ft) horizontal support arm, which consists of 1.5m (5ft) clear span fiberglass. Without the use of any tools, the mast and support arm can be easily angled and rotated for proper alignment with the conductors.

The horizontal support arm contains three wire holders with spring-loaded latches and rollers for preventing damage to conductors. The outside holders can be quickly repositioned along the support bar in order to accommodate any conductor spacing. Also, the mast can be used without the support arm to perform single-phase lifts.

The Auxiliary Arm has been field-tested and approved by transmission and distribution maintenance professionals. It can support a maximum balanced vertical load of 613kg (1350lb), or an unbalanced vertical load of 454kg (1000lb).

Options include regular- or heavy-duty wire holders, neutral wire support and storage bags for the mast and support arm.

Diversified Products designs, engineers and manufactures a full line of utility products, including line lifters, insulated work platforms, man baskets and pole pullers.
