Adamo Group has won two contracts in its home state of Michigan that will call on the capabilities of its Cat 385CL high reach excavator. Adamo was the first contractor in the USA to take delivery of this model of demolition excavator, with the machine's first outing being the demolition of a Ford facility in the city.

Work started on the first contract, the demolition of the 8,360 square metre (90,000 square foot) Detroit Medical Centre guest services tower, in early October. The demolition is being carried out as part of the DMC expansion programme, with the tower being replaced by a new parking structure. Adamo is using a 3.5 tonne Cat MP30 attachment for the work, which the machine can carry to just over 27.5 m (90 ft).

The second contract is for the demolition of the former Riverwalk Plaza Hotel in Jackson, which stands nine storeys tall and covers an area of 11,150 square metre (120,000 square foot), with work due to start later this year. On the job, Adamo will use the machine with a 2.5 tonne MP20 attachment, which will allow the Cat to operate at its full working height of 42.5 m (120 ft).
