Austrian-based Doka Group has acquired Dutch technology specialists BAS in a bid to improve its solutions in construction products.

Headquartered in Venlo, the Netherlands, BAS researches and develops construction materials, including concrete, while Doka produces and supplies formwork.

Doka believes that its acquisition of BAS will help the company to be more cost-efficient through specialist research. It claimed that one study suggested 30% of construction costs came from activities that generated no value, such as mistakes.

Jens Günther, chairman of the executive board, Doka, said, “For us this acquisition is a step forward in our business objective to meet the increasing demand not only for products but also for solutions in construction.

“That will necessitate a whole new approach to construction sites.”

He added that the acquisition could change the formwork industry by introducing new methods of efficiency.
