Pierre Boels, CEO of Netherlands-headquartered rental company Boels Rental, said the company planned to open 25 new outlets in 2017, 24 off which would be located outside of its domestic market.

Speaking during the Hire Association Europe (HAE) Convention 2016, Mr Boels said, “We have 340 tool and plant hire branches in ten European countries, as well as a tool and small machinery hire presence in 2400 DIY outlets.

“We plan to open at least 25 greenfield sites every year, and next year 24 of these will be outside our domestic Dutch market.”

Mr Boels said the company planned to expand in countries such as Switzerland and Italy, but currently had no plans to enter the UK market.

“Within five years, we plan that 75% of our total revenues will be generated outside the Netherlands,” he added.

Boels reported 2015 revenues of €336 million, of which 78% was generated in the tool and plant rental side of the business, while 7% came from building site installation, 7% came from DIY, 4% came from party and events, 2% from survey and 2% from portable kitchens.

The HAE Convention 2016 ran from 21 to 22 September in Loughborough, UK.
