Unic Cranes Europe has launched a version of its Eco crane series with a crawler tracked carrier instead of one on wheels.

The battery powered crane was developed with Japanese manufacturer Furukawa Unic. It lifts 2.9 tonnes and fits through a standard double doorway. Power is from a 48 volt rechargeable battery. Target applications include lifts indoors and outside in sensitive environments.

Commenting on the new crane Graeme Riley, Unic Cranes Europe CEO, said, “The wheeled version of our Eco spider cranes have been well received by our customers throughout Europe. These machines were originally developed for use in environmentally sensitive areas such as food processing plants but, with an increasingly environmentally-conscious market place, we have seen growing demand for battery powered and hybrid options.

“You only need to look at the automotive sector to see that there is a big drive towards developing more environmentally friendly and energy efficient products, with each leading manufacturer taking big steps to include battery powered and dual fuel variants in their range. The decision to develop our cranes in this direction was a natural step for us and it is a testament to our commitment to green innovation and environmental sustainability within the industry.”
