50 tonne Elebia hook

Spanish smart lifting solutions company Elebia Autohooks has developed a 50 tonne (110,231lbs) version of its Neo line of lifting hooks: the Neo50.

The hook can be used on lifting points up to 130mm in diameter. Elebia said the Neo50 has a safety factor of 4:1 and that safety is enhanced through the hook’s remote engage and release system, operated via remote control. Once the hook is locked, it is impossible to drop a suspended load, Elebia claimed, and there is no need for operator intervention during the lifting process.

The Neo50

According to Elebia, the Neo50 is designed so that loads cannot be lifted, or even loaded, on the tip of the hook. Elebia said the lifting hook also includes a laser pointer to aid the operator position the hook. This is particularly useful in lifting operations where distance can cause the sense of depth to be misjudged, Elbia claimed.

The automatic lifting hook is powered by rechargable battery and three hour’s charging results in enough power for 5,000 cycles or 250 hours in standby mode. A four-colour LED indicates the lifting hook’s battery status and the hook has two operating modes designed to help increase the hook’s battery performance.
