Groundwork company Kanonaden Entreprenad Mälardalen AB, a subsidiary of demolition company AF Gruppen, has been selected to carry out the earthwork for a new logistics facility in Sweden.

The facility, which is being developed by Tommy Allström Byggproduktion AB, is to be built on a 28ha (280,000 sq m) site in the city of Eskilstuna, west of Stockholm.

Kanonaden’s SEK147 million (US$16.3 million) contract includes the removal of around 280,000 cu m of rock, which will be blasted by the company’s mining subsidiary Bergbolaget.

Bård Frydenlund, EVP of the Sweden Business Area at AF Gruppen, said, “The contract awarded to Kanonaden is great proof of the success resulting from the company’s strategy of specialising in logistics facilities.”

The contract award means that Kanonaden is now working on two of the largest logistics facilities in the region.

Once complete, the new logistics building at Eskilstuna will have an area 80,000 sq m. It will include three automated racked pallet storage systems and areas for both lorries and railway tracks.
