Aecom wins NEOM international airport project management role

Infrastructure consulting firm Aecom has won a deal to act as project management consultant for the NEOM International Airport, in Saudi Arabia.

Aecom’s multi-year deal involves project management for masterplanning, design and construction services. It also involves testing, commissioning, operational readiness, activation and transition (ORAT).

NEOM is a special economic zone of Saudi Arabia that features several ambitious construction projected. It is financed by US$500 billion of funding from the Public Investment Fund of the Kingdom of Saudi.

Split into different regions, NEOM features a new island resort called Sindalah, a 170km-long linear city called The Line, a year-round mountain destination called Trojena, and a port city centred around industry and technology called Oxagon.

Lara Poloni, Aecom’s president said, “We are very pleased to be part of this innovative NEOM project, which is set to transform travel between NEOM and the world.

“Our track record delivering large scale infrastructure projects in the region, as well as our mobilized global aviation resources and project management experts will help ensure the successful delivery of NIA.”
